Discover some of the history of the city of Doral

Doral incorporated on June 24, 2003. Originally built by Alfred and Doris Kaskel, who created "Doral" by combining their names. They purchased 2,400 acres of land in the 1950’s, and in 1962 opened the Doral Hotel Country Club that quickly became a hot spot. In the second year of operations, the Kaskels hosted the first Doral Open Invitational, Florida's major PGA event, and Alfred offered $50,000 in prize money to attract well-known golfers.
By the early 1980s, Doral started to experience its first residential growth spurt, when the Kaskels grandson Bill developed Doral Estates, followed by a joint venture with Lennar Corporation to build Doral Park. Both communities were named after the hotel, a trend that was to be repeated many more times.
Today Doral is a vibrant city with a population of over 58,000. A blossoming commercial scene that includes major media corporations like Telemundo and Univision, multinational companies like Amazon and Carnival, and the Doral Decor District (DDD). It also promotes the arts with the Museum of the Americas (MoA) which features both established and emerging contemporary artists, and Paseo de las Artes, an innovative theater experience with a wide array of theater performances throughout the year.
