The West End District - An area with Great Potential in Miami Dade

When we think of Miami we usually focus on Downtown or the Beach. However, for those looking for a tranquil lifestyle, and family oriented neighborhoods surrounded by good schools and universities, there are excellent options in the west side of the city such as the Kendall in the West End District, that offer great living options and a pleasant quality of life.

The West End is bounded by Florida’s Turnpike on the East; SW 152 Street on the South; Krome Avenue on the West and Tamiami Trail on the North. Among the multiple advantages you will find in the area, we have a population of over 214,000 as per the last census in 2010, which represent the County’s largest portion of labor force, with a median household income of $59,600, a large percentage of homeownership of over 72%, multiple level Schools and mayor Universities such as FIU, Lakes, Hospitals such as Kendall Baptist West, the Miami Metro Zoo, The Miami Executive Airport, Shark Alley, Gator Park, and over 4,000 businesses including Kendall Ice Arena (an indoor ice skating ring), and X-Treme Rock Climbing with over 14,000 Square Feet of Climbing space.
To promote everything this area has to offer, Miami Dade Commissioner Juan C. Zapata for District 11 has been diligently working in the community, and created initiatives such as the West End Living Free App with information on all the events offered in the area, and the West End Strategy, a visionary report on the future of West End and how to better utilize and grow its resources.

For more information on the strategies proposed for the West End read the community development study conducted by FIU professors:
