Publix to waive rent payments in the Shopping Centers it owns
Publix
Super Markets, Inc. is planning to waive 2 months’ rent, CAM fees, and taxes to
businesses that rent spaces in the Shopping Centers it owns throughout
Southeast Florida, informed the South Florida Business Journal on Tuesday.
Since
the COVID-19 virus forced many restaurant and small businesses to close or
limit their services, supermarkets including Publix have seen a surge in
business from people buying food and cleaning supplies, now Publix wants to return
the gesture and help the community by helping their tenants overcome the
economic hurdle.
With
over 351 locations owned by the company they estimate that hundreds if not
thousands of small businesses will benefit from the decision.
